Sample Green Layout Used By Tour Pros

How The Pros Really Read Greens

A common misunderstanding of the game of golf is that Tour Pros are great at reading greens by eye. In point of fact, Tour Pros are great at reading greens because they (and their caddies) actually measure the slope of greens before tournaments (and make notes of these measurements in yardage books). Then, during the tournament, they consult these yardage book notes to see how the green is breaking for a given putt. This is perfectly legal and it's the kind of "inside information" that separates the pros from the amateurs.

Most golfers don't know this. But a call to any Tour Pro or Tour Caddie will reveal that it's the honest truth.

Before BreakMaster came along, these Tour players and caddies measured greens slopes by using simple "bubble" levels, expensive (and clumsy) digital carpenter levels (like the Smart Level) or they rolled a lot of golf balls by hand. But since the BreakMaster offers them an even more precise method to read greens, it's the way all the pros are going.

The BreakMaster is currently used by hundreds of Tour Pros and caddies on the PGA, Champions, LPGA, Nationwide, Canadian and European Tours, and more pros are buying BreakMasters every day. Please note that the pros are actually buying BreakMasters. Exelys doesn't give the BreakMaster away to anyone just to get an endorsement.

Exelys has also sold a large number of BreakMasters to the major tour tournament committees including the PGA, USGA, Champions and LPGA as well as regional tournament committees. The officials on these committees use the BreakMaster to set fair pin positions for their tournaments.

So what does the BreakMaster offer the average golfer? Simply the best means to understand breaking putts and green reading the same way the pros do it: not by eye, but by measuring slopes and then adjusting putts accordingly. Once a golfer can really know breaks and make adjustments (rather than guessing), their scores will start to come down. And at its low price, the BreakMaster is a worthwhile investment in lowering any golfers' scores.
