Golf Pros and Amateurs Discover the BreakMaster
LOS ANGELES (December 3, 2003) -- Even though the BreakMaster Digital Green
Reader has only been on the market for a few short months, many professional
and amateur golfers, along with their caddies, are already discovering the
BreakMaster and using it to shave strokes off their score cards.
Some of the most recent purchasers of the BreakMaster include LPGA players
(or caddies for) Lorie Kane, Mi-Hyun Kim, Dorothy Delasin, Jeong Jang,
Emilee Klein, Christina Kim and Smriti Mehra. On the PGA Tour the
BreakMaster is being used by players (or caddies for) Ben Crane, Bernhard
Langer, Pat Bates, Notah Begay III and Ty Tryon. Current Amateur golfers
(or their caddies) using the BreakMaster include Toni Wiesner and teen
sensation Michelle Wie.
In September, Bob Lewis, captain of the Walker Cup team (a four-time Walker
Cup team member and three-time USGA championship runner-up), purchased
BreakMasters for every member of the American Walker Cup team.
What all these great golfers are discovering is that using the BreakMaster
in preparation for upcoming tournaments allows them to train their eye for
breaking putts and also to get to know the exact breaks on the greens they
will be playing in the actual competition. While the use of devices like
the BreakMaster (as well as laser range finders) are prohibited during
actual competition, there is nothing illegal (according to the USGA Rules of
Golf) about using a device like the BreakMaster during a practice round or
during a walk-through of the course. It is perfectly legal during a
walk-through of a course to make notes in a yardage book on how the greens
will break and then to consult that yardage book during competition.
The pros know that there's no substitute for actual knowledge of how a golf
course is going to play. And there's no better way to understand breaking
greens and take the guesswork out of green-reading than by using an Exelys
BreakMaster.
